Testimonials

Amber Hall, Examinations, The Royal Australasian College of Physicians:

I just wanted to let you know what a fantastic job Carissa and the events team did last night in ensuring that one of our Sydney calibration sessions went smoothly. The fellows attending the session were impressed that the technology actually worked this year and the Co-ordinators were also highly impressed by the support Carissa provided to them.

I am very grateful to Carissa and the rest of the events team for organising such a successful event!

A/Prof John Wilson, Chair of the Victorian State Committee at the Royal Australasian College of Physicians:

'For an RACP advanced trainee or Fellow there is no inequitable divide between city and rural when it comes to education and support.  In 2004 RACP worked with GTH to facilitate approx. 175 lectures and meetings with doctors participating via high quality videoconference, just as they would conventionaly as if they were in the same room, irrespective of where they are physically located.  Over 600 trainess currently participate from an average of 58 locations across Australia and New Zealand with the GTH  model bringing all the technical, administrative and human elements together, making things easy for everyone involved.  The lectures and workshops are very interactive and this has removed a major concern for those working outside major centres that in the past have not been able to participate in person.  The professional and human value for these doctors, as well as their hospitals and patients is tremendous.'

Dr Niranjan Roy, Director of Anaesthetics, Mackay Base Hospital

'Once again I must take this opportunity to thank Global TeleHealth, the
College of Anaesthetists and Prof. Phillips, for all your efforts to boost the morale of the registrars working at the rural countryside hospitals like ours, bring them under the College umbrella and above all, update their knowledge. Certainly this would go a long way in attracting young graduates to our specialty, arousing their interest to the career specialist and doing exams.'

Dr Peter Walkley, Locum, Western Australia

In relation to feedback concerning last weeks Update in Haematology Rheumatology and General Medicine which I attended via videoconference at the Westmead Hospital site I have faxed my evaluation form to you this morning.
I thought the whole session was excellent. I found the material both interesting and relevant.
It was particularly helpful to be able to print out the lecture notes beforehand.
I am looking forward to the next session.
Please keep up the good work.

Dr Zoe McCallum, Paediatrician NHMRC Public Health Medical Research Fellow Centre for Community Child Health, University of Melbourne and Murdoch Childrens Research Institute, Royal Children's Hospital Flemington Road Parkville, VIC, 3052:

Dear Adam and colleagues, I did not get a chance to thank you and your team for the fabulous job they did coordinating the 23 sites for the WEDS 7th July FEAT meeting night ( child obesity) at the College of anesthetists -thank you! It was no mean feat!!!! Cheers, Zoe

Meredith James, Project Officer, Support Scheme for Rural Specialists:

Thank-you for making the use of videoconferencing for the Faculties of Occupational Medicine and Rehabilitation Medicine meetings on Friday such a success...I just wanted to let you know there has been a lot of good feedback and I think there will be quite a few of the physicians that will want to use it again. The rehabilitation specialists were particularly happy and commented that they could have stayed on for another half hour. Thanks again for all your help organising things we couldn't have done it without you!

Dr Naor Bar-Zeev, FEAT coordinator, Victorian State Committee, Royal Australasian College of Physicians - Paediatrics & Child Health division

December 1 2004

Dear Chris,
Just a brief note to express my thanks to you, Adam, Paul and the rest of the team...for all your hard work and flawless technical abilities throughout the FEAT program for 2004. The evenings all ran smoothly without a glitch, and allowed paediatricians across the continent to participate, contribute and feel involved. As you know there has been widespread and growing interest in the FEAT sessions, and the support you have provided to regional centres has also been timely, helpful and much appreciated.
Your plans for recording the sessions and making them available for live streaming and later download for College members would be a really useful facility.
Once again, my thanks to all the... team, and looking forward to next year.

Helen Morris, Administrative Officer, Continuing Education, ANZCA

Thanks to the staff...particularly Chris and Adam, who's advice and professionalism contributed greatly to the success of the Rural Advanced Specialist Training Support videoconference series which involved linking more than twenty rural training hospitals each week.  I have no doubt that their expertise in facilitating encouraged interaction between the trainees and presenters and Adam's good-natured persistence in the follow up of evaluations ensured valuable feedback was attained.  I look forward to working with the team on this project and other videoconference initiatives in the future.

Jan Rice, Manager Education & Clinical Services, Wound Foundation of Australia

Thank you for taking the stress out of the technology. I had always been keen to try this medium for teaching but terrified of the whole process. The staff took all those stresses away from me, allowing me total focus on the subject being taught. I will continue to use this service in order to reach those who are unable to travel to my Melbourne based wound education courses.
